# Land Claiming

After finding some land that you're interested in building upon, living on, or preserving it is recommended to claim the area. By claiming a section of land, you ensure that nobody else, except those that you grant trust to, is capable of accessing it nor is anyone able to PVP within the claim in order to protect the area, your builds, and any items that you have stored.

In this guide, I will be going over how to get to unclaimed territory, how to earn claim blocks, how to make a claim, resizing and subdividing, the various levels of trust and how to locate and unclaim your land.

{% hint style="info" %}
Every hour of play time, your claimable block limit will increase by **350** blocks. You can view your claim blocks in scoreboard or **/claimlist**
{% endhint %}

{% hint style="info" %}
Per the rules, griefing & stealing is not allowed even on unclaimed land! If you're griefed or stolen from under any circumstance you may contact staff on our [Discord ](https://dsc.gg/arcticbd)or in-game to have the damage rolled back.
{% endhint %}

## Claim Guide <a href="#how-do-i-claim-land" id="how-do-i-claim-land"></a>

When first joining the server, you can create your first claim immediately by placing down a Chest. This will create a 5 by 5 wide claim.\
\
You will need claim blocks to be able to claim land and claim blocks can be earned in many ways (these methods are listed below). Once you have a sufficient amount of claim blocks you can claim your land.

### Required Materials: <a href="#required-materials" id="required-materials"></a>

* Golden Shovel
* Stick

### Step 01

\
It's important to note that claims are restricted to cuboids. To begin creating a claim, right click where you'd like one of the corners of the claim to be with a golden shovel. If you don't have one, you can get it from the daily kits.

### Step 02

Right click again on the opposite corner at the other side of your desired claim area.

{% hint style="success" %}
**Height** doesn't matter, claims automatically expand from the bottom to the top of the world
{% endhint %}

### Step 03 <a href="#step-3" id="step-3"></a>

If the claim meets minimum size and claim blocks requirements, it will be created and temporarily outlined in gold & glowstone. You can check your or others claimed area using a stick & use various commands to add friends to the claim or manage it, which are listed below.<br>

## Expanding Your Claim: <a href="#expanding-your-claim" id="expanding-your-claim"></a>

There are two ways to expand your land claim.

1. The first option is:
   1. Go to one corner of your claim and right click with your gold shovel. This will enter “expansion” mode.
   2. Hold your shovel and walk for a short distance, then right click the ground again in a new location to expand your claim. It is easier to do these in short distances to avoid mis clicks or accidentally creating a new claim instead of expanding
2. The second option requires some maths;
   1. Stand in your claim facing the direction you wish to expand.
   2. Do the command `/expandclaim` (amount of blocks) to expand that side of your claim X amount of blocks in the direction you are facing.

## Claim Subdivision:

<figure><img src="/files/UGAvxCfJ1TJ3Z6g5uf8x" alt=""><figcaption></figcaption></figure>

What is a claim subdivision? It is a claim within your own claim that you can add specific permissions to. For example, if you want to run a town, you could subdivide your claim into plots of land. This would let you trust certain people to plots, without giving them trust to the rest of your claim.

Cool, but how? Well, it works the same way as normal claims. Stand in your claim and run the `/subdivideclaims` command while holding your golden shovel. Then simply claim the area inside your claim that you wish to have different trust permissions. This will not use claimblocks.

To abandon a specific subdivision, stand inside of it and type `/abandonclaim` **and** What if you want to remove a subdivide but not your entire claim? Easy! Stand inside the subdivision and do `/abandontoplevelclaim`

## How do I get more claim blocks? <a href="#how-do-i-get-claimblocks" id="how-do-i-get-claimblocks"></a>

There are many ways in which you can collect claim blocks, such as:

* Claim Block from Votes and Vote crates
* From Free or Ranked Kits

## What other commands do I need to know? <a href="#what-other-commands-do-i-need-to-know" id="what-other-commands-do-i-need-to-know"></a>

* **/claim \[range]**- create a new claim using commands
* **/unclaim** - abandons the claim you are standing in
* **/trust \[player]** - allows you to select certain players to be able to build/interact in your claim
* **/untrust \[player]** - removes a player's permissions in your claim
* **/accesstrust \[player]** - allows you to give certain players access to buttons, levers, and beds
* **/containertrust \[player]** - allows you to give certain players access to buttons, levers, beds, crafting gear, containers, and animals
* **/subdivideclaims** - allows you to create subdivideclaims to grant permission to certain players in different plot of your claims
* **/basicclaims** - return to normal claiming mode, rather than being in subdivide claim mode
* **/trustlist** - provides a list of all players who have permission in your claim
* **/claimlist -** shows a list of your claims and their locations
* **/claimexplosions** - toggles if explosions will work in a claim
* **/trapped** - teleport out of the land claim you're currently in if you're stuck

{% hint style="info" %}
You can use`[public]`in place of `[player]`to give that trust to all players. Generally useful for /accesstrust to allow others to open doors and push buttons but preventing them from killing animals or breaking blocks.
{% endhint %}

**There are 3 tiers of permission you can choose to trust others:**

<table><thead><tr><th></th><th width="167">Complete access </th><th>Containers &#x26; mobs</th><th>Buttons, levers, etc.</th></tr></thead><tbody><tr><td>Build &#x26; break</td><td>              ✅</td><td>             ❌</td><td>             ❌</td></tr><tr><td>Access &#x26; modify container contents (ex. chests, furnaces)</td><td>              ✅</td><td>             ✅</td><td>             ❌</td></tr><tr><td>Open doors &#x26; gates</td><td>              ✅</td><td>             ❌</td><td>             ❌</td></tr><tr><td>Interact with &#x26; damage passive mobs</td><td>              ✅</td><td>             ✅</td><td>             ❌</td></tr><tr><td>Trigger buttons, levers, pressure plates, etc.</td><td>              ✅</td><td>             ❌</td><td>             ✅</td></tr></tbody></table>
